The Seniors of Petersfield Golf Club welcome all men aged over 55 to join our active and sociable Seniors Section and join us in our competitions, matches and fun social golf.
No one seems to know precisely when the Seniors started in Petersfield but it is thought to be over 50 years ago. The Club was founded in 1892 and we moved to our current Course in 1997. We have a great Clubhouse and both the bar and food are excellent at very reasonable prices.
We have over 100 Senior members who pay a £5 subscription that enables them to play with other men of the same age, of mixed ability but above all, who enjoy their golf. A number of these have now reached the age where they just enjoy the social side.
Our regular Seniors Day is Thursday where we have the tee from 7.30am
The Seniors’ Committee oversees several Medal, Stableford, Team and Fun competitions during the year, some of which are “Honours Board” competitions, the winner of which gets to see their name added to the relevant Honours Board in the Clubhouse.
As well as the Thursdays, there are a number of informal groups that go out during the week and we have both single’s and pair’s knockout competitions that run during the Summer and Winter. We also have about thirty Seniors Matches with other local clubs run on a Matchplay basis. These are a great day out where you get to partner with a variety of Seniors and to play on some of the best local courses for very little cost. After all groups have finished we enjoy a meal together where the banter is delightful!
We hold a number of social functions during the year where we can invite our partners to join us for great food, great company and a really good evening.
Our Captain or any of our Committee would be very happy to show you round both the Club and the Course and introduce you to other like-minded golfers. If you do not have a handicap at present, then you can still play while you are qualifying.
We look forward to meeting up with you.
